This Privacy Policy explains how Globed (“the App”) handles information when you use it. The App is developed and operated by Owen Davis-Bower (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
Globed is a local-first travel journal for iOS and iPadOS. It rebuilds trips on a 3D globe from geotagged photos and manual entries. There is no Globed account, sign-in, or cloud sync operated by us. Your trips, places, and photo-based memories are designed to stay on your device.
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment card details inside the App. We do not operate Globed servers that store your journal or photo library.
When you import photos or enable auto-import, the App may read on your device:
• Photo asset identifiers from your Photos library
• Creation and capture dates
• Embedded location (latitude and longitude) when present in photo metadata
• Enough access to display thumbnails and cover images in the App
Original photo files are not uploaded to Globed. Photos stay on your device.
The App also stores travel journal data locally on your device, including trips (names, dates, notes), places (names, coordinates, locality labels), visits, home areas, preferences, and small local caches (for example, reverse-geocode results and ignore lists).
The App does not request continuous device GPS or location-services permission. Travel places come from photo library metadata and locations you enter yourself.
On-device processing is used to:
• Suggest and build trips from geotagged photos
• Show a globe and maps of places you visited
• Resolve city and country names for coordinates
• Calculate travel stats
• Support journals, merge/split, home areas, Year in Review, and trip playback
• Remember settings and import ignore lists
• Optionally show Apple’s App Store review prompt after engaged use
We do not sell personal data. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency or advertising identifier access.
If you choose Share (for example, a trip share card), the App renders an image on your device and hands it to the system share sheet. Destinations such as Messages, Mail, social apps, or Save Image are chosen by you and governed by those services’ policies. Globed does not operate those destinations.
Globed has no third-party analytics, ads, or authentication SDKs. It uses Apple frameworks that may send limited data to Apple when you are online:
• MapKit reverse geocoding (approximate coordinates to resolve place names; results are cached locally; an offline city catalog is preferred when a match exists)
• MapKit / Apple Maps (map display and place search when you add trips manually)
• Photos and related system frameworks (local library access)
• StoreKit requestReview (standard App Store review prompt)
• System share sheet (content you choose to share)
Apple’s handling of MapKit, Maps, and App Store data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. If you back up your device or sync Photos via iCloud, Apple’s terms apply; Globed does not run a separate sync service for journal data.
Travel journal data and preferences are stored in the App’s sandbox on your device until you delete individual items, use Clear All Data in Settings, or delete the App. Clear All Data permanently deletes Globed’s on-device travel data and turns off auto-import; it does not delete photos from your Photos library. Uninstalling the App removes the App’s local data with it.
There is no Globed cloud account to delete online. On-device wipe or uninstall is the deletion path for App data.
You can:
• Grant, limit, or revoke Photos access in iOS Settings
• Review suggested trips before saving
• Edit or delete trips, places, visits, homes, and journal notes
• Disable auto-import
• Use Clear All Data to wipe Globed’s on-device travel database
• Delete the App
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because Globed does not host your journal on our servers, most App data is controlled on your device as described above. Contact us if you have questions about support correspondence or this policy.
The App is intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information via support email, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete that correspondence where required.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. If future features add accounts, cloud sync, analytics, or other data flows, this policy will be updated before those features ship.
